The Christmas Bug

We went to Utah this last weekend for Kaleb's mission reunion. All in all a very fun experience again even though our bed in the motel we stayed in was as hard as a rock. Seriously, it was like they just put a piece of plastic on top of the coils. Not fun for a woman who already has a hard time sleeping on the pediatric mattress with memory foam pad on top of it that she owns:( On our way back to Rexburg Sunday morning as we were leaving Salt Lake City it started to snow and by the time we reached the north end of Salt Lake it was like driving through a blizzard!! We had to go like 35 the whole way because we couldn't even see ten feet in front of us. As scary as that was (especially with all of those Utah drivers surrounding us), I was excited to see what Rexburg would be like when we got back. Would it be snowing there too? As dreams of snowball fights, snow angels, cups of piping hot chocolate, and eventual Christmas music ran through my mind, my hopes were crushed as we drove further north. Not only did the snow stop, but it got sunny and warm. Oh pooh. My in-laws told us it had snowed, but didn't stick. Winter is by far my favorite season. I love the cold and the snow and the feelings of goodwill in the air.

Needless to say, I am now totally in the Christmas mood. I love the extra time spent with family and friends. I love reading the story of Christ's birth in the New Testament and reflecting on all of my blessings. I love the feeling I get when I give a heartfelt gift to someone and the look of surpise and happiness that consumes them. It is so wonderful! So I can't wait til it snows again and I can't wait for December! Not only will it be a white Christmas (it always is in Rexburg it seems), but we will have the most wonderful Christmas gift of them all- the gift of new life- a new baby boy!! Nothing beats that. And what's better is that many of my friends are recieving the same gift in their own homes. Although they are far away (epecially you Tatiana!), I take comfort in knowing that we can share in the joy of this wonderful Christmas gift:)

Snow?! No way! I have to admit I have already played some Christmas music! I can't wait for December and our new little ones! Maybe you should skip the hot chocolate though, you always spill it :P!

You totally skipped over thanksgiving! You are just like the retail business! ;-) I like fall better than winter, you get to wear all your cute warm winter clothes, but without the freezing cold yucky snow!!
